Two girls who were injured following a road traffic collision in which two people sadly died are now in a serious but stable condition.

The 17-year-old from Chingford and 16-year-old from Woodford remain in hospital after undergoing surgery.

Debden Park FC player Max Halcrow, 21, from Buckhurst Hill and a 16-year-old from Loughton were both killed in Goldings Hill, Loughton, at around 2am on Saturday, August 24.

A 21-year-old man from Loughton was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice.

He was discharged from hospital on Sunday 25 August, and remains in custody for questioning.

A single vehicle, a silver BMW M3, was involved in the collision. It had left the road and struck a tree at about 2.05am.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Essex Police would like to speak to anyone who saw what happened, or saw a silver BMW M3 driving in the Loughton and Epping areas.
