Woolwich Ferry remains suspended today due to technical issues

It's been a disruptive month for those relying on the Woolwich Ferry and services are again suspended this morning.

The ferry has been suspended since yesterday morning because of technical issues in east London.
It was also suspended for the first half of August and in the past two weeks only one boat has been running.

Around 20,000 vehicles a week use the free service across the Thames which opened in 1889, and an estimated 2.6 million passengers also use the ferry annually.

Workers recently went on-strike throughout May and June in protest against health and safety standards.

New ferries were brought in last year and extensive work was done to improve the piers.
